Maaike has specialized for more than 20 years in competition law, with a focus on cartel investigations, private damages litigation and merger control.
She frequently speaks at in-house seminars and trainings in the field of competition law.
She is a member of the editorial board of Competitio, one of the leading Belgian competition law journals.
Maaike started her career with a traineeship at the European Commission. Afterwards, she started working a s a lawyer at VWEW (2002-2005). In 2006 she joined contrast. Maaike is a proud co-founder of Faros.
Maaike is a member of the Brussels bar.

Maaike holds a bachelor and master’s Law degree from the University of Ghent. She also obtained an LL.M. from Queen Mary (UK).
Maaike contributes to publications on competition law and co-authored an important publication on the EU Private Damages Directive. She is also co-author of a practical toolbook regarding the new Horizontal Block Exemptions and accompanying guidelines of the European Commission.
Maaike speaks Dutch, French and English.
