Karolien is the driving force behind Faros’ innovative compliance practice. Karolien assists Belgian and international clients with various compliance matters. She has extensive practical experience in developing tailor-made compliance programs. In her day-to-day practice, Karolien regularly provides hands-on trainings to legal teams and sales teams throughout Europe.
In addition to her compliance law practice, Karolien specializes in vertical practices (distribution and supply relationships). Karolien published a “toolbox” to assist practitioners with the application of the Vertical Block Exemption Regulation. She also has gained extensive practical experience in handling private damages cases.
Karolien is a qualified lawyer in Belgium. She obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in European and international law at the University of Antwerp and a master's degree in competition law at the University of Toulouse Capitole I. In addition to her law degrees, Karolien holds a master’s degree in Applied Economic Sciences. Karolien’s economic background allows her to fully connect with the business of her clients.
Karolien started her legal career at contrast in 2013. She is a co-founder of Faros.
Karolien is a member of the Brussels bar. She speaks Dutch, English and French.
